Cocaya Audiovisual Studio and +Katerina Vars are two creative directions born from the same vision. Cocaya represents the audiovisual department, dedicated to cinematic storytelling, music videos, artistic works, and experimental visuals. +Katerina Vars is the commercial creative department, focused on branded content, campaigns, and professional communication. Together, they embody one creator with two aesthetics – artistic and commercial – united by a single passion: telling stories through visuals.
Cocaya is the artistic identity of Greek creator Katerina Varsamopoulou, who lives and works between Thessaloniki (GR), Berlin (DE), and Brussels (BE).

What does “Cocaya” mean?
“Cocaya” comes from Katerina’s childhood. At four years old, she couldn’t pronounce the Greek word for “owl” (coucouvayia) and invented her own version: Cocaya.

Growing up in a small Greek village, Katerina discovered her artistic soul early on. At the age of twelve, she created her first handmade collage using cut-out magazine photos — a practice she still continues today, though she never shares these works digitally.
​
Her first love, however, was video editing. By sixteen, she knew it was what she wanted to do forever — and she hasn’t stopped since. Alongside editing, she developed a strong interest in filming and photography, creating independent projects as a way to express her artistic vision.
​
She began her freelance journey under the name “Cocaya”, which later evolved into “Cocaya Audiovisual Studio” as her work became more established and professional. Today, the studio also includes the department +Katerina Vars, dedicated to commercial video projects such as branded content, campaigns, and professional communication.

Cocaya has a focus on processing videos with a nostalgic touch, drawing inspiration from the aesthetics and styles of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. These decades were known for their unique artistic expressions, and videos from that era often have a vintage, retro, or nostalgic vibe.
